We Feed
Every week we bring approximately 1,000 servings of healthy food to struggling community members in four areas of Newark, NJ, fulfilling the basic human need for nourishment and sustenance.
Our team hits the road with freshly-cooked, hot meals, fresh produce, and nonperishables to ensure that every person experiencing homelessness has access to quality, nutritious food. The simple act of providing a meal brings comfort, provides hope, and uplifts the spirits of those we serve.
We Provide
Our commitment extends beyond meals. Throughout seasonal changes, we provide essential items such as warm coats, hats, gloves, socks, blankets, and personal care items like toiletries and clothing. Our goal is to ensure that no one has to endure prolonged exposure to the elements. Together, we can offer warmth and protection during the changing seasons.
We Connect
Recognizing the universal need for human connection, we understand that the journey through homelessness can be incredibly isolating. At Sparrow House Outreach, we actively listen to the needs of the individuals and families we serve, making sure they feel supported, seen, and valued. With a community of volunteers and donors, together we are building a network of care and connection with our community in need.
How it Works
Every Saturday our team, along with volunteers, brings hot meals, nonperishable foods, and essential items to four locations in Newark, NJ. At each stop, we set up tables of food and additional items for those we serve. We warmly engage and connect with the community members as they stop by to receive food. We discover hardship, strength, optimism, generosity, trepidation, humor and even talents such as singing, storytelling, and cooking!
